The department Vehicle Control within Product Development is responsible for the definition, design and validation of feasible control concepts for vehicle functions, both in advanced technology projects as in product development projects. These control concepts are applied in all our trucks.
As Driver Information Development Engineer you define and design new mechatronic product features which have interaction with the truck driver, such as dashboard, switches, stalks and other driver control elements.
This position focusses in particular on the development of the new fully digital Instrument Cluster and In-Vehicle Infotainment touch screen.
Your task is mainly to define the desired Human Machine Interface of many functions (e.g. Telephone integration, Axle load monitoring, Navigation integration, Vehicle Settings, etc.) on the Instrument Cluster and In-Vehicle Infotainment touch screen. This also includes: requirements gathering at different stakeholders, design of the non-styled screens and logic behind it, prototyping and alignment with the engineering departments regarding industrialization requirements. You support also actively verification on simulator and in-truck testing, in order to verify and validate the functional design. You write functional design specifications and monitor the function development towards implementation and validation.
You cooperate closely within a multidisciplinary team with different stakeholders, such as function owners, system owners, architects, test engineers and suppliers. You are the linking pin for translating their input into a feasible control concept design.
